PSW Real Estate is an urban infill home builder and general contractor building in cities that benefit from reduced urban sprawl. Their goal is to refocus population density closer to a city’s urban core by building where people want and need to spend their time.
Project Schedule: Fieldlens Gets the Job Done 25% Faster
PSW’s Land Development Manager Dan Illescas and his team recently completed construction on a 35-home project in a detached condo community in Austin. The schedule was intense, with a new house starting every week and each one scheduled from frame start to substantial completion in 4 months.
Prior to using Fieldlens for punch list, Dan would walk the jobsite with a yellow pad, then enter the issues into an Excel document, and then divide the lists up and send them out to each sub. Each house built had three punch periods – each time averaging about 4 hours for the initial walk and dissemination.
Results: With Fieldlens, that 4 hours was cut in half – a major contributing factor to each house getting to substantial completion 30 days ahead of schedule. The jobsite walk took less time, and the punch list was entered in real time rather than after the walk. According to Dan, the biggest impact was a massively improved cycle time – Fieldlens cuts down on the waiting – the list was distributed immediately, questions and progress updates from subs were received faster, and punch items were checked and closed live.
Fieldlens also allowed Dan and his team to update the punch list as they walked and he estimated that each subsequent walk was at least 30% faster with project information readily available.
